The new ICE 52 RS is born
Standard: carbon/glass construction, Hall Spars carbon rig, carbon rudder axle and super lightened interior.
The ICE YACHTS shipyard presents itself on the market with the sporty evolution of the ICE 52, which has already sold 18 units since the presentation of the Genoa Boat Show in October 2015.
The ICE 52 RS, developed directly by Umberto Felci's studio together with the shipyard's technical staff led by Enrico Malingri, is a fast cruiser dedicated to the most competitive owners who require their boat to perform at the top in regattas and at the same time be used in cruising.
Modern design, we are talking about the reverse bow (scimitar-shaped) with a dolphin made of carbon and 1.3 or 1.8 meters long in the full race version and the stern in Volvo Open 70 style (smile) derives directly from the very recent ICE 33 racer, launched by the shipyard in June 2014 and already built in 5 units, a true star performer in all the regattas in which it participates.
On the hydrodynamic level, the waterlines and appendages, this time characterized by an unprecedented draft of 3 meters, are designed to achieve great performance, with impressive results that highlight the ICE 52's aptitude for going upwind at very tight angles and planing very fast at downwind speeds..... and with the engine it goes at 9.2 knots of cruising!!
To guarantee these performances are added the high technologies used in the construction and the incredible quality of a craftsmanship of the highest quality, carried out by technicians who make use of an experience gained in many years of activity dedicated to the construction of boats that have written the history of sailing.
The shell and deck are laminated in one-step infusion from a female mold using hybrid glass and carbon fibers in epoxy infusion; The carbon structures are also laminated on site, also in infusion, becoming one with the hull and deck.
These choices, in addition to containing weight, give the boat a solidity and robustness capable of withstanding the repeated stresses and heavy loads that are faced even in the most demanding regattas.
ICE 52RS is equipped with a fin made of Weldox steel with high mechanical characteristics and a numerically controlled milled lead torpedo that offer the advantage of reducing the weight of the ballast and therefore the total displacement of the boat, with the same righting moment.
Therefore, great power in gaits where this is essential and minimum displacement in gaits where this represents a brake, such as downwind gaits and motor navigation.
All this allows you to maintain very high averages in all conditions, both in racing and cruising, under sail or motor.
keel-rsThe rudder is equipped with a carbon axle as standard and allows impressive control even when the boat heels or subjected to large aerodynamic loads, always keeping clear the attention paid to the issue of safety, central both in terms of design and construction.
The deck reflects the general lines of Felci Yacht Design projects, combining simplicity and style, elegance and efficiency, comfort and versatility.
Compared to the standard 52, the deck equipment is obviously larger and adequate for the greater loads expected.
The standard Hall Spars carbon rig is equipped with two tiers of spreaders and is also supplied with high modulus if necessary. The back stay is Reckmann.
The cockpit, characterized by large benches and comfortable backrests, is decidedly oversize and allows maximum mobility for large crews.
In addition, there are many details that highlight how the study of the deck was conducted in the search for a synthesis between a deck ideal for relaxed cruise life and one full of seaworthiness and efficiency, necessary during long-range navigation or a regatta.
Following this same philosophy, the sail plan is characterized by a genoa without overlapping, the absence of flying shrouds and the attachment of the chainplates, made directly of carbon, positioned directly on the hull.
Thanks to the technologies used for the construction of the interiors, such as the use of lightened panels, a considerable weight saving is obtained compared to a traditional construction, without sacrificing the value of carpentry work, both in the refinement of finishes and in the excellence of the details.
Compared to a standard Ice 52, about 1600 kg are gained thanks to the use of lithium batteries not supplied as standard.
The shipyard's technicians are available to illustrate and let you touch the construction quality of the true Made in Italy and the attention to detail that only a product born from Italian design and construction tradition are able to offer.
